A little about me
Hello, My name is Jacek Kasjan, I am a pianist, church musician, and teacher. I offer lessons in piano and music theory.
Originally from Poland, I began playing the piano at age 12 in my hometown of Wroclaw. After moving to the United States, I studied piano at Macomb Community College with Leszek Bartkiewicz. I completed my bachelor's degree at Wayne State University under the mentorship of Dr. Robert Conway.Currently, I'm pursuing my Master's degree at Eastern Michigan University under the guidance of Dr. Hyunjin Lim and Dr. Joel Schoenhals.
I serve as an organist at Transfiguration Church in Detroit, St. Ladislaus in Hamtramck, and occasionally at the Sanctuary of John Paul II in Orchard Lake. Alongside this, I perform both collaboratively and as a solo pianist, specializing in nineteenth-century piano music by composers such as Chopin, Brahms, Liszt, and Schubert. Additionally, I'm engaged in research on Polish piano music and the revival of works by forgotten composers like Juliusz Zarebski, Karol Tausig, and Ignacy Jan Paderewski, who is primarily known as a pianist.
I have a passion for contemporary music and had the privilege of premiering a cycle of piano pieces titled "Music for Hours" by contemporary Polish composer Jaroslaw Golembiowski in 2015.
